LAS VEGAS KOI CLUB
2007 OPEN KOI SHOW
October 2007
SHOW INTENT
1. This is a AKCA koi show
providing both young and large koi in a competitive environment for koi
entrants and for education of the general public on quality koi. Although
we encourage dealer presence and participation at the showsite, entrants
must be amateur hobbyists and may not be dealers or employees of dealers.
2. This show will be English
Style where each entrant has a separate tank for their koi and water and
tools are not transferred between tanks. WE WILL EMPLOY EVERY MEANS TO
PREVENT CROSS CONTAMINATION OF TANKS WITH STERILE TECHNIQUE. This style of
show LIMITS any possibility of parasite or bacteria transfer between koi
in different tanks.
PRE-SHOW PREPARATIONS
1. Deadline for receipt of
tank reservations: Monday September 24, 6 PM. The 30 tanks will be
assigned in sequence as koi arrive. You may request more than one tank and
we will try to accommodate you, however we wish to let as many people
participate as possible. So send your requests in and the second tanks
will be given out on a first come first basis after the September 24
deadline. Submit tank reservation and entry fee of $45 for each tank being
reserved. Make checks payable to Las Vegas Koi Club and send them
to:
Crystal Cloud/LVKC
8672 Rising Rock Circle
Las Vegas, NV 89129.
2. Banquet forms and payment
may also be mailed with tank reservation.
3. Feeding of koi to be
entered into this show should be discontinued 7 days prior to the show to
help maintain good water quality environment during the show. Only your
koi will be in your tank so those who do not follow this guidance will be
obvious by the poor quality of the water.
4. Identification - Each
Entrant must bring a photo of each koi entered for use by the Show
Committee during judging. Entrants are welcome to recover the photos of
their koi hung on their tanks at the end of the show. (IF YOU HAVE A
POLAROID TO HELP BEGINNERS) PHOTOS MAY BE TAKEN BUT WILL BE AT THE PRICE
OF 5$ EACH SO WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO BRING YOUR OWN.
5. Check to be sure that all
koi entered are in good health. SICK FISH WILL BE DISQUALIFIED, INCLUDING
THOSE WITH PARASITES. Disqualification will apply even if the problem is
found after the judging is over. Since this is an English style show, we
will not have a sick tank for disqualified koi. You may take them home or
leave them in your tank but they will not be judged.
6. Entrants are required to
provide a net and blue tub for use at their tank during the show. Medium
to dark blue tubs are preferred because they show the colors of the koi
better. The show committee will make every effort to not allow cross
contamination of water between tanks during the show.
